Functionalized Materials Innovation Research Team

Functionalized Materials Innovation Research Team conducts research and development in basic science and advanced technology. Our team focuses on molecular design, synthesis and surface functionalization of materials including environmentally friendly polymer, organic and inorganic chemicals that possess special properties for specific applications. Examples include superhydrophobic bio-based polymer for water-proof coating, luminescent organic compounds for chemical sensor and signal reporter in biosensor, UV filtering, light diffusing and NIR reflecting additives for greenhouse film.

  • Expertise in upstream and downstream processing i.e., molecular design, synthesis, functionalization, compounding and fabricating
  • Capability to produce made-to-order functional materials for suitable applications
  • Development of organic materials for chemical sensor and signal reporter in biosensor
  • Availability of equipment and process reactors for upscaling production
  • Have the potential to transfer technology to the private sector and community
