Textiles Research Team
The Textiles Technology Research Team (TETT) conducts and supports research and development in textile technology to enhance the quality and add value to textile products and related applications. This is achieved through conducting in-house research, collaborative research with universities and industries, offering consulting services, and contracted research to address private sector organizations’ specific problems or product development needs. Our goal is to transfer knowledge and technology to the industry, thereby enhancing the competitive potential of textile products. Additionally, we disseminate knowledge and technology to support the development of the textile technology infrastructure.
The research team specializes and focuses on developing core technology in three main areas:
1. Natural Dye Technology: This involves the preparation of natural dyes into ready-to-use forms, developing dyeing techniques for natural dyes on yarns and fabrics, and formulation of printing paste from natural dyes for textiles and paper.
2. Functional Fiber Technology: This involves structural designing and preparation of fibers for specialized characteristics tailored for specific uses. This includes shaped fibers, bicomponent fibers, and bio-based fibers. Fiber spinning technology, including melt spinning, wet spinning, and electrospinning, has been focused on developing the desired fibers from polymers (petroleum and bio-based) or new polymer/additive compounds.
3. Functional Nonwoven Technology: This involves composition design and fabrication of nonwovens for specific structures and characteristics for diverse applications, including agriculture, construction, and automotive.
Our laboratory equipment consists of four main groups:
1. Dyeing and color testing equipment
• Equipment for dyeing, finishing fabrics for special properties, and color tester
• IR Dyeing Machine
• Weathering test system
2. Padding Machine
• Stenter (Heating and sealing Machine)
• Spectrophotometer (Color measurement equipment)
3. Fiber Spinning Machine: Laboratory equipment for fiber formation using various techniques such as fiber melt spinning, wet spinning, and bicomponent fiber formation.
