Research Team
The Aluminum Processing and Manufacturing Technology Research Team, under the Material Processing and Manufacturing Automation Research Group, National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), focuses on the research and development of industry-based projects , develops appropriate technologies and creates suitable equipment for aluminum casting as well as the related methods such as extrusion, forging, and heat treatment of aluminum alloys. Besides, the team is active in the research and development area involving aluminum fatigue properties used in the automobile industry, transportation, and manufacturing.
Capabilities
- Raise the quality of aluminum manufacturing process by improving production processes and metallurgical structures.
- Develop the quality of aluminum products for engineering applications especially in fatigue properties.
Developed Products and Prototypes
- Reduced pressure test system for hydrogen assessment of liquid aluminum.
- Heat treatment process development in aluminum billet production.
- The study on melt cleanliness with PoDFA technique in the aluminum production process.
- The study on metallurgy, and improve the aluminum hot forming defects.
- Mold and die design in aluminum casting for reducing casting defects.

- Multi-Spindle Rotating Bending Fatigue Testing Machine
This machine can perform 4 tests simultaneously, and also test the fatigue life under corrosive and high temperature conditions
- Porous disc filtration apparatus (PoDFA) can be analyzed and evaluated the cleanliness level of molten aluminum by certified metallurgists from ABB Group
- Reduced pressure test system for hydrogen assessment of liquid aluminum
