Ms. Parnbua Boonparn, Managing Director of Matichon Public Co., Ltd, together with the executives of Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) had delivered 10 units of the ‘PETE’ Patient Isolation and Transportation Chamber to 5 major hospitals, namely the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Chulabhorn Hospital, Thammasat University Field Hospital, and the Golden Jubilee Medical Center, the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and Banphaeo General Hospital. This donation was part of the online health exhibition “Healthcare 2021 Thailand Vaccines” during August 18-22, 2021.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ‘PETE’ Patient Isolation and Transportation Chamber has become crucial equipment to help prevent the spread of the pathogens during a patient transfer, thus reducing the risk of infection in the hospital enviroment. The ‘PETE’ was developed by the Design and Industry Solutions Research Team, Engineering Design and Computation Research Group of MTEC. It consists of an air circulation system inside the chamber, a HEPA Filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter) to filter out germs and a UV-C light system to sterilize the exhaled air before being released to the outside. The chamber is lightweight (10 kg) and can be folded into a bag, so it is easy to handle and reinstall. Furthermore, the chamber is easy to clean with the sanitizer and can be reused.
