On October 27, 2021 at Wiangsa Industrial and Community Education College, Nan Province, the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and the Agricultural Technology and Innovation Management Institute (AGRITEC) had organized an workshop on the installation of M-Wheel, an electronic device to turn a normal wheelchair into a motorized wheelchair for the elderly and people with paraplegia of all ages.
This workshop aimed at training the technicians in San Sub-District and Chai Sathan Sub-District at Wiangsa Industrial and Community Education College, Nan Province, so that they would learn the installation procedure for the devices. According to the survey results, the volunteers who are the eldery and disabled patients finds M-Wheel easy to use, helps improve their quality of life and reduce the dependency on others, as well as the care expenses.
The development of M-Wheel not only results in knowledge transfer in designing and manufacturing of medical devices that conform to standards, but also initiates production networks consisting of the government sector, private sector and local communities.
