Dr. Toemsak Srikirin, Director of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), and Mr. Chidchanok Sukmongkhon, Deputy Secretary-General representing the Director’s Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to provide essential data for implementing Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Ensuring Sustainable Production and Consumption). The MOU signifies their commitment to achieving the goal of sustainable production and consumption. Dr. Nongnuch Poolsawad, Director of the Technology and Informatics Institute for Sustainability, and Miss Montana Siriwan, Director of the Strategy and Planning Division, witnessed the signing ceremony.
The main objectives of this MOU are to promote cooperation by supporting academic knowledge and driving sustainable production and consumption patterns. The aim is to facilitate operations that achieve Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG12), focusing on ensuring sustainable production and consumption patterns. This effort aligns with Thailand’s Sustainable Production and Consumption Drive Plan 2017-2037, which comprises the following goals.
- To collaborate to monitor progress on Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG12) through Thailand’s assessment system for promoting sustainable production and consumption. This system will report the results of indicator calculations.
- To support progress reporting towards SDG12 goals through the Sustainable Production and Consumption Action Plan and by leveraging relevant academic knowledge.
- To strengthen the expertise of personnel from both sides. This initiative will facilitate knowledge sharing with experts, research endeavors, and participation in relevant training sessions and seminars. These efforts fall within the framework of academic cooperation geared towards sustainable production and consumption.
