Tissue Engineering Team (TSET) of Biofunctional Materials and Devices Research Group (BMD) aim to establish knowledge and develop technology of bone/cartilage tissue engineering. Tissue engineering is a promising technique used for repair or substitution of damaged and defective tissues or organs. We are currently focusing on research and development of tissue-engineered osteochondral constructs and tissue-engineered ear-shaped constructs for implantation into patients for cartilage treatments.
- In vitro biological evaluation of 3D-porous scaffolds such as cytotoxicity and biocompatibility tests
- Isolation and culture of chondrocytes from animal and human articular cartilage
- Cells/bioactive compounds encapsulation within alginate hydrogels
- Culture and differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts and chondrocytes on 3D scaffolds
- Cell culture supplement for stimulating cartilage extracellular matrix production
- Porous DLP-printed Biphasic construct for osteochondral defect repair (ongoing research project)
- Laminar flow hood
- Fluorescence microscope
- Real time PCR
- Microplate reader
- Microtome
- Encapsulator
