Ceramics and Construction Materials Research Group
Mission and Role
Ceramics and Construction Materials Research Group (CCMRG) of National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) is the leading research entity with superior resources and over 30 specially trained research personnel for continuing development of ceramics technologies. CCMRG has successfully developed a large number of researches to create knowledge and added value for sustainable development which have significantly benefitted the industrial, social, as well as the national security sectors. The research works is set to deliver the enhancement in synthesis, processing, and manufacturing of advanced ceramic and construction materials in such forms as powder, films, parts and products. The research products were developed under environmentally-friendly concept which natural resources and industrial waste are converted into products with a desired microstructure and qualification. The purposes are to sharpen the country’s competitive edge and lower the environmental impacts.
CCMRG consists of three main laboratories, Ceramic and Glass Research Team (CEGT), Ceramic Engineering Research Team (CEET), and Ceramic Chemistry Research Team (CECT), serving as key mechanisms in driving effective research and providing technical services of ceramics technologies. Technical consulting and services addressed to industrial sectors include consultancy to solve problems in manufacturing and reduce cost in process, the use of clean technology, and energy efficiency implementation. Assessment service for ceramic material properties and defect are also provided to the industry. Information related to ceramic technology are also offered, and research partnerships among government, universities, private sector have been explored to create opportunities for collaboration.
