Green latex and rubber materials research team
The Green Latex and Rubber Materials (GLRM) research team is under the Innovative Manufacturing Research Group of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC). Our research focuses on four main themes as follows.
1. Research and development on the reduction of toxic chemicals used in processes involving natural rubber
2. Research and development on decreasing protein allergy caused by natural rubber products
3. Research and development on increasing the efficiency of natural rubber production and maintaining the quality of raw rubber
4. Research and development on the applications of natural rubber in a variety of products.
1. Development of preservatives in fresh and concentrated natural rubber latex replacing ammonia, tetramethylthiuram disulfide, zinc oxide and sodium sulfite.
2. Development of latex coagulant replacing acid.
3. Development of techniques for reducing protein allergy in fresh natural rubber latex, concentrated natural rubber latex and natural rubber products.
4. Development of machine systems to control raw natural rubber production process and quality of natural rubber and to reduce wastes in the production .
1. BeTheEPS: New preservatives for fresh natural rubber latex to produce rubber sheet
2. LOMAR: Ultra low ammonia concentrated natural rubber latex for mixing with asphalt
3. ParaFIT: Ultra low ammonia concentrated natural rubber latex for foam products
- 4. KLEAN: Semi-automatic process for coagulating fresh natural rubber latex to produce rubber sheet
