The main focus of the research team is to solve problems in rubber industry using engineering techniques. Typical problems include optimization of energy consumption, waste management, engineering design of parts and devices, development of agriculture-related materials and tools, as well as development of dual-use technology.
In addition, the research team has also participated in the development of rubber product standards which benefit not only users, but also help producers improve their product quality. The objective of this activity is to develop Thai Industrial standard (TIS) for rubber products and then push forward the high impact TIS to the international standards (ISO).
1. KLEAN: Semi-automatic process for coagulating fresh natural rubber latex to produce rubber sheet
2. Drying house for rubber sheets: The drying house for rubber sheets designed for optimization of energy usage.
3. Using rubber for Hardpan soil solution
4. The developed rubber milking liners significantly reduce the risk for breast tissue inflammation compared to the commercial ones. In addition, the obtained raw milk possesses a lower number of white blood cells and live microorganisms.
6. Low rolling resistance tire design
Computer simulation of radial tire and solid tire
R&D with Royal Thai Naval Dockyard
Flexible couplings for Thai navy ship
R&D with private companies
Tire for radio remote control racing car (smooth surface)
We have been certified to be one of the Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs), advanced level for Group 29: Rubber and rubber products, of Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), to specify and establish standards concerning rubber-related products and submit to TISI for implementation. Some achievement examples are given below.
TIS
ISO
1. Tire rolling resistance testing machine
This machine is used for measuring tire rolling resistance suitable for rubber compounding development and tread design of low rolling resistance tire. Three testing methods can be selected, i.e., force method, torque method and electrical method.
2. Slip resistance tester for livestock rubber sheets
