On November 16, 2021 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and its research system network agencies held a press conference on the 16th Thailand Research Expo 2021. This event would be held during November 22-26, 2021 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld under the theme of “Research for the country development towards stability, prosperity, and sustainability”
Dr. Wiparat Di Ong, Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), said that Thailand Research Expo is organized in Remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX), who was the “Father of Thai Research”, and in honor of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun (King Rama X) and the royal family. The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) would receive grace from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to preside over the opening ceremony of the Thailand Research Expo 2021. This event was a national platform for presenting research, technology, and innovation in order to integrate knowledge for the benefit of the national development. This knowledge integration encompassed various aspects, such as academics, policy, society, community, commerce, and industry and involves the cooperation between the research system network agencies of the country, related sectors, and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). This year event was organized as the 16th Thailand Research Expo 2021 with more than 100 agencies and 500 research works. Outstanding works had been discussed and knowledge and experience had been shared in order to spark new ideas for plans and projects, as well as to apply practical works to be used across all sectors.
Thailand Research Expo consisted of various exhibitions and activities, such as the Platinum Award exhibition and Strong Community exhibition in Research and Innovation Systems, as well as conferences and seminars on important national topics. There were Highlight Stage activities to present research works and inventions that could be used at community, corporate, and commercial level. There were also activities of Thailand Research Symposium 2021 to give researchers from various fields opportunities to present their research works to the interested parties and users, as well as exchange knowledge and learn other important academic fields. In addition, there were Higher Education Innovation Contest 2021, Thailand Research Expo 2021 Award, and Research Clinic activities for a research consultation. This year’s MASCOT is “Nong Wijai (น้องวิจัย)” presenting a “Research Ambassador 2021” “Puen Kanin Chobpradit (เพื่อน คณิน ชอบประดิถ)” as a representative of a new generation. Furthermore, various products from government stores, private sectors, and royal projects were exhibited and sold at the event.
This year’s Thailand Research Expo had presented the research works in 7 areas, namely, research and innovation for the development of manpower and knowledge institutes, research and innovation to meet social and environmental challenges, research and innovation to increase competitiveness, research and innovation for spatial development and reducing inequality, research and innovation to drive the BCG Economy Model, and research and innovation to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In this event, MTEC had presented its inventions, namely, the ‘PETE’ Patient Isolation and Transportation Chamber and the ‘HI PETE’ Patient Isolation Chamber for Home Isolation, which received research grants from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI).
