On January 7, 2022 at Hauybong Subdistrict, Chaloemphrakiat District, Saraburi Province, the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) had organized a workshop on the installation of M-Wheel, an electronic device to turn a normal wheelchair into a motorized wheelchair. The device would be useful for the elderly and people with paraplegia of all ages. According to the survey results, the volunteers who are the elderly and disabled patients find M-Wheel easy to use, helps improve their quality of life, and reduces the dependency on others, as well as the care expenses.
The development of M-Wheel not only results in knowledge transfer in designing and manufacturing of medical devices that conform to standards but also initiates production networks with the government sector, private sector, and local communities.
