On May 17-29, 2022 at ICONSIAM, Bangkok, the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) participated and presented its research results in “Sooksiam Amazing Fruit Paradise 2022” to welcome the magical season of fruits and a big fruit festival. This event was organized by the Horticultural Science Society of Thailand, Sooksiam City, and the Institute and Network of the Thai Farmers to support and encourage Thai farmers to present the best of Thai fruits to Thai people and foreigners, especially in May which is the month when Thai fruits, such as durian, mangosteen, and rambutan are harvested at the same time both in the east and the upper south of Thailand.
In the event, MTEC had presented three research works including (1) Magik Growth (an innovative fruit wrapping bag), (2) ActivePAK and ActivePAK Ultra (bags for extending the life of fruits and vegetables), and (3) Durian odor-proof film, which consists of a PLA film and a biodegradable tray. The film is lightweight and clear, easy to peel, and well-retained. Thus, it is suitable for packing durians and distributing them through public transport without the problem of pungent smell. In addition, MTEC also gave away durian odor-proof films for participants during May 20-22, 2022.
