MTEC NSTDA received Science and Technology Award for Institutions category: Metal Injection Moulding Laboratory
Thailand Toray Science Foundation (TTSF) held the 30th award and grant for science and technology research presentation ceremony on March 8, 2024 at The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok. National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) acting through National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) received a Science and Technology Award for institutions with outstanding contributions in science and technology, while the winner of the institution category is Metal Injection Moulding Laboratory, MTEC.
MTEC exhibited at the annual academic conference of the 60th Royal College of Radiologists of Thailand and Radiology Association of (RCRT & RST 2024)
Dr. Boriphat Methachan, a researcher of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), presented innovative medical training platforms at the 60th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Royal College of Radiologists of Thailand (RCRT) and the Radiological Society of Thailand (RST) 2024. These platforms utilized a simulated breast milk model. The theme of this meeting was “The New Era of Radiology: Innovation, Integration, and Collaboration,” reflecting the new era of radiology, which involves innovation, integration, and collaboration. The event showcased advancements in engineering design and computational research for specialized materials applications in engineering.
MTEC’s Modern Railway and Transportation Technology Research Group was awarded funding for a project under the 2023 Mekong-Lancang Special Fund (MLCSF).
Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), co-presided over the opening ceremony of the “Operational Exchange Meeting to Discuss Project Implementation Guidelines of MHESI under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Fund” and announced the success and progress of MHESI’s projects under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Fund. The event was attended by Mr. Permsuk Sutchaphiwat, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, and Mr. Wu Zhiwu, Minister-Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, along with representatives from MHESI and projects funded under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Fund for the fiscal year 2023.
MTEC-NSTDA partnered with FTI to develop a central environmental database for the steel industry in response to CBAM measures.
The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, MTEC Director, signed a memorandum of cooperation to develop an environmental database for the steel industry in response to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) with Mr. Nava Chantanasurakon, Chairman of the Steel Industry Group, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), hailed this collaboration as a positive step for the steel industry.

Dr. Toemsak Srikirin, Director of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), and Mr. Chidchanok Sukmongkhon, Deputy Secretary-General representing the Director’s Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to provide essential data for implementing Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Ensuring Sustainable Production and Consumption). The MOU signifies their commitment to achieving the goal of sustainable production and consumption. Dr. Nongnuch Poolsawad, Director of the Technology and Informatics Institute for Sustainability, and Miss Montana Siriwan, Director of the Strategy and Planning Division, witnessed the signing ceremony.
DIW Teams Up with Partners and Private Sector to Boost Academic Cooperation for Sustainable Industrial Waste Management and Green House Gas Emission Reduction
The Department of Industrial Works, in a landmark collaboration, has teamed up with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries, and key stakeholders such as Insee Superblock Limited, Insee Ecocycle Limited, the Center of Excellence on Hazardous Substance Management, Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd., Eastern Silicate Co., Ltd. (ESL), and the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) to enhance academic partnerships. The primary objective of this initiative is to promote responsible utilization of industrial wastes, focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, mitigating environmental impacts, and augmenting economic value.
