A completed edition of National (Thailand) Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Inventory, 2nd Edition, and a draft of National (Thailand) Management Plan for Implementing the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, 2nd Edition.
• National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), Thailand, acted as the principal advisor and operator through the implementation of a national project entitled “The Enabling Activities to Review and Update the National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Thailand”, which was funded by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The POPs inventory was compiled by MTEC, with collaboration from the Pollution Control Department (Thailand) and Thammasat University (Bangkok, Thailand). Moreover, the inventory taking and POPs management plan received cooperation from various sectors across the nation, for instances public, private, educational institution and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The knowledge and awareness on POPs, especially ineffective management and related issues, have been addressed to the public and subsequently published. The project involved various activities, such as assessment and prioritization of POPs management, stakeholder forums, and the preparation of (draft) action plans and (draft) national management plan for the implementation of Article 7 of the Stockholm Convention on POPs.
