Background
The residual ash from coal burning in boiler (water wall slag) of pulverized coal fire power plant has a direct impact on the stability and efficiency of power production, especially lignite-based from Mae Moh coal mine with high percentage of CaO. The percentage of CaO continues to rise based on survey, resulting in even higher ash and wall slag built up. Therefore, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand is interested in developing high-pressure water soot system for water wall boiler cleaning, a system for online cleaning ash accumulation of furnace walls at Mae Moh Power Plant.
Goal
To develop an online boiler cleaning technology to reduce the dependence of foreign technology
What does the research team do?
Develop focus clean technology for efficient cleaning of the furnace walls
Research results
High Pressure Water Soot System for Water Wall Boiler Cleaning that uses focus clean technology to help support the future problems of increasing calcium oxide in coals. The system can be adjusted as needed, is efficient in ash disposal, helps reduce the technology investment and maintenance. It also enhances the competitiveness and standards of the organization by developing the knowledge and competence of personnel through the process of participating in research and development of technology used in electricity production to reduce the dependence on foreign technology.
Research status
The development is in the second phase of testing at unit 11, Mae Moh power plant
Outlook
To integrate the Computational Fluid Dynamics of flow field simulation and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
